Is It Time to Put Traditional Dentures Behind You?

Traditional dentures have come a long way, but they have shortcomings that make many people want to look around for something better. If you've grown tired of dentures that cause embarrassment and physical discomfort, or if you would love to enjoy food like you used to, then it's time to consider implant-supported dentures.

Let Dental Implants Restore Your Smile and Secure Your Bite

Unlike traditional dentures held in place with suction and adhesives, implant-supported dentures are attached directly to the jaw using small titanium posts called dental implants. Once the implant fuses with your jaw and is attached to the denture, your teeth will be virtually equal in stability to natural teeth.

The Hidden Benefit of Implant-Supported Dentures

Conventional dentures may look like your natural teeth, but they lack a crucial feature: tooth roots. Without roots, old-style dentures can't stimulate regenerative bone growth in your jaw. In fact, traditional dentures can accelerate jawbone deterioration. As the entire dental arch shrinks, your facial features in the lower part of your face develop a sunken look and make you look older than you are. Dental implants, which are artificial tooth roots, avoid this issue by encouraging beneficial bone growth.

Dr. Goldin Discusses Implants

For patients who are missing many or all of their teeth, we can help. As Dr. Goldin says, "We are fortunate to be living in a time where teeth can be replaced with dental implants." In this short video, he explains the advantages of dental implants.

My initial visit was totally awesome! Dr. Goldin makes you really feel like you're family. When I left, I literally felt like he was my brother. He does impeccable work and he explains every step so you'll be very well aware of the outcome, physically and financially. Lizzie, she's awesome and was also a great help and very informative. This place is A1, staff is A1. You don't have to take it from me, but this place is a must visit for all your dental needs.

The Treatment Timeline For an Implant-Supported Denture

Consultation

Your dentist will assess your health and use our i-CAT™ Cone Beam Scanner to measure jawbone density. If you are a candidate for dental implants, we can begin determining the best possible locations for your implants and create a treatment plan.

Preparatory Procedures

If conventional dentures have led to bone loss, we may recommend bone grafting or sinus lift surgery. Treatment for gum disease, which can lead to implant failure, may be necessary for some patients.

Implant Surgery

The implant dentist will numb the treatment area and, if desired, we can administer intravenous (IV) sedation. Dr. Craig Goldin is a certified IV sedation dentist. Once you are comfortable, small incisions will be made in your gums and the implants will be put in place. The number of implants needed for dentures varies, but typically ranges between four and eight.

Impressions

The next step is to take a digital impression of your jaws to guide the creation of your permanent denture.

Denture Placement

When your denture is ready, we'll check that it fits comfortably and meets your needs before attaching it.
