“I was more open to laughing.”

Philip had discolored enamel from taking antibiotics as a child. He was self-conscious about his teeth and would cover his mouth when speaking and smiling. After trying other cosmetic procedures, our dentists recommended veneers. Philip now feels more comfortable when speaking, smiling, and laughing.

Making Stunning Smiles Affordable We Accept Financing

Treatments that aren't medically necessary aren't covered by insurance. Because dental veneers are purely cosmetic, they won't be covered. However, at the Cosmetic Dentistry Institute, this doesn't have to be an obstacle between you and the gorgeous cosmetic results you're looking for.

You can secure financing for your treatment through CareCredit® or LendingClub®. These lenders offer loans with low interest and manageable monthly payment plans.

The Porcelain Veneers Procedure A Timeline for Treatment

Considering porcelain veneers? Our Troy, Birmingham, and Bloomfield patients can expect several steps:

Our cosmetic dentists can upgrade your smile with just one or two custom veneers, or you might benefit from several on the front teeth.

Assessing Candidacy

During your initial visit to our Troy, MI, office, you can learn more about treatment, and we'll determine if porcelain veneers are right for you. If not, we may suggest alternatives such as teeth whitening or dental bonding.

1

Prepping the Teeth

To begin your treatment, we'll prep your teeth. Less than a millimeter of enamel will be removed from the front of each treated tooth so the ultra-thin veneers can lie flush with surrounding teeth.

2

Taking Impressions

With each tooth prepped and ready, our dentists can then take impressions of your smile. These impressions will be sent to an off-site dental lab where skilled technicians will use them as a blueprint to craft your custom veneers.
3

Temporary Veneers

We'll provide a set of temporary veneers for you to wear while your custom veneers are being fabricated. Your dentist will give you detailed instructions on how to best care for your temporary veneers.

4

Creating Custom Veneers

Using premium dental porcelain, lab technicians will create restorations that complement your natural teeth in terms of fit as well as color. They strive for natural-looking results.

5

Returning to Our Office

Once the lab completes your veneers in about two to three weeks, you'll return to our Troy office for a fitting. Your temporary veneers will be removed, and the adhesive will be cleaned from your enamel.

6

Placing Your Porcelain

Your permanent porcelain veneers will be bonded in place with dental cement. Before they are bonded to your teeth, we will ensure that they are comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, so you will immediately have something to smile about.

7

Want an Even More Dramatic Transformation? Consider a Smile Makeover for Comprehensive Effects

If you're looking for a way to address issues beyond what veneers alone can accomplish, like an asymmetrical gumline or more advanced dental misalignment, consider a smile makeover. This personalized treatment plan lets you work with your dentist to choose a custom combination of procedures that address your unique concerns.

Your smile makeover may include veneers, gum contouring, dental bonding, teeth whitening, Invisalign®, or dental implants, and virtually any other dental treatment. We can create a treatment plan that ends with results you'll love.

Composite Resin Veneers vs. Porcelain Veneers Choosing What's Best for Your Smile and Budget

Composite veneers, also known as dental bonding, are a procedure in which tooth-colored composite resin is used to reshape a tooth or conceal minor concerns like stains or chips. Results can last anywhere from 3-10 years with proper care.

If you’re not sure you want to commit to porcelain veneers, we may recommend composite resin bonding as a way to preview your results and determine if you want to move forward with veneers in the future. Likewise, if porcelain veneers are out of your budget right now, but you still want a smile transformation, we may recommend bonding.

The type of veneer, whether porcelain or composite resin, is ultimately up to you, your preferences, and your budget. Our Troy cosmetic dentists will help you weigh your options.

FAQ About Veneers in Troy, MI

What can porcelain veneers treat?

Veneers can conceal a variety of common cosmetic concerns, like chips, cracks, gaps, deep dental discoloration, and minor misalignment. With veneers from our cosmetic dentists, the result is a brighter, more uniform smile.

Are veneers permanent?

Porcelain veneers are considered a permanent cosmetic solution because a small amount of enamel is removed during placement. Once the enamel has been removed from a tooth, it will always require some kind of restoration. However, the veneers themselves will need to be replaced about every 10 years.

How can I care for my veneers?

Your veneers can last for 10 years or longer with proper care. Proper care includes a good at-home oral hygiene routine that involves brushing and flossing, avoiding foods and drinks that stain, and attending your twice-yearly dental checkups. Prioritize your oral health to keep your mouth free of concerns like tooth decay and gum disease.

Are there alternatives to veneers?

Yes. Some patients don’t want to alter their natural tooth structure or want to try a more cost-effective option before veneers. We offer services like teeth whitening, dental bonding, and Invisalign that can address many of the same concerns as veneers. These cosmetic dentistry procedures can also be combined into a streamlined smile makeover plan for more comprehensive results.
