Our Technology – The Cosmetic Dentistry Institute
CEREC® Restorations
CEREC® is an advanced dental restorative system that allows us to fill decayed teeth, remove defective amalgam fillings, or place porcelain crowns or veneers in just one appointment. In the past, our Detroit area patients had to endure temporary restorations and at least two dental visits before getting permanent restorations. Well, no more; CEREC® quickly and precisely mills restorations with the aid of an advanced computer imaging system.
CEREC® restorations are safe, durable tooth-colored ceramic, not the metal of yesterday. Porcelain crowns and fillings are not only more durable than traditional metal ones, but more attractive. CEREC® restorations use bonding techniques that eliminate the sensitivity problems that traditional fillings and crowns left in their wake; they also allow more of the healthy tooth to be saved.
Video Diagnosis
Ever wonder what your dentist is seeing while he or she pokes around your mouth? Now the mystery is gone, because video diagnosis technology lets patients view, on a computer monitor, exactly what their dentist is seeing. This innovation lets patients get more involved in their treatment. You can even take the pictures home with you.
Digital X-Rays
It’s time X-rays went digital, and the Cosmetic Dentistry Institute utilizes this innovative new technology. Digital X-rays yield larger images than traditional X-rays, and these images can be enhanced, manipulated, easily archived along with your medical records, or e-mailed to your insurance company. They are obtained using small sensors—no more gripping film between your teeth. Digital X-rays make the process easier for patients and more productive for the dentist. Lastly, these images require up to 90% less radiation than with conventional film type x-rays. We are excited to offer this groundbreaking technology to our patients.
Smile Analysis
Everyone’s smile is different—and with our computerized smile analysis, you can get a sneak peek at what yours will look like after your smile makeover. We invite our patients to discuss their desires with us. With the aid of a computer, an image of your new smile will be created based on your desires and the shape of your teeth, face, and mouth. You will leave your appointment with a picture of what your new, improved smile will look like.
At the Cosmetic Dentistry Institute, we conduct smile makeovers using a combination of porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, porcelain crowns, and more. Smile analysis lets our Detroit area patients see what the results of these procedures will look like before you begin treatment.
DIAGNOdent®
We all know that catching cavities early is best. But did you know that the traditional way of detecting cavities—a lot of poking and prodding—is not only uncomfortable, but only successful 50 to 75 percent of the time? Fortunately, DIAGNOdent® is a much more accurate and sensitive tool used in detecting even the smallest cavities, or the ones that “hide” along fissure lines or inside the biting surfaces of your teeth.
DIAGNOdent® is an advanced diagnostic tool that uses a simple laser diode to examine teeth for cavities, uncovering decay without invasive techniques or X-rays. DIAGNOdent® is both more comfortable and more precise in detecting cavities compared to earlier techniques. This tool also makes it easy for dentists to monitor suspicious areas in your mouth without repeated X-rays or harm to tissues.
The Cosmetic Dentistry Institute offers advanced dental technology, including precision-milled porcelain crowns, to our Detroit-area patients. Contact us today to learn more about our technology or to schedule an appointment.
Soft Tissue Dental Laser
This laser is used for gum therapy, cosmetic enhancements and soft tissue treatments. It removes germs and heals pockets of infection, instantly heals cold sores, fever blisters or ulcers without any discomfort; and is ideal for sculpting excessive gum tissue quickly and painlessly.
I-CAT 3D Dental CT Scanner
The i-CAT is a machine (like a CT Scan) that produces three-dimensional images that allow us to accurately diagnose and treat many dental conditions. This state-of-the-art technology produces accurate 3-D data that is especially useful in implant planning and placement. During the scan, patients are seated in an open environment, the scan takes only seconds, and patients receive significantly less radiation than during a traditional medical CT scan.
