The Dental Implant Difference Results That Look Like Your Natural Teeth
Types of Dental Implants: Your Implant Dentistry Options
There are a variety of implant options available to meet your needs. Whether you are missing one tooth, a few teeth, or all of your teeth, our dentists can develop a treatment plan just for you. We can also coordinate treatment if a tooth needs to be extracted and replaced.
Traditional Dental Implants
Traditional dental implants are titanium posts surgically embedded into the jawbone. After a period of osseointegration (fusion of the implant to the bone tissue), the implants give your restorations stability that is virtually equal to that of natural teeth.
Mini Dental Implants
Mini dental implants are titanium devices with a smaller diameter than traditional implants. Mini dental implants can benefit patients who have suffered some bone atrophy due to an absence of tooth roots, but want to avoid undergoing a bone graft in order to receive traditional implants.
ESTEEM Dental Implants
ESTEEM All-on-X dental implants are used to support a Prettau® Zirconia Bridge, a premium device that replaces an entire dental arch on the upper or lower jaw. As few as five of these special implants can support this restoration, which provides superior aesthetics, durability, and functionality.

View on GoogleBone Grafting and Sinus Lift Surgery to Prepare for Implants
Since missing teeth can cause bone loss over time, some patients will need bone graft surgery before they undergo implant placement. Bone grafting uses donor bone or synthetic hard tissue to add mass to the jawbone. This will allow implants to be anchored in place with a solid foundation.
For missing molars and premolars along the upper dental arch, sinus lift can be performed. Also known as sinus augmentation, a sinus lift uses bone grafts to raise the sinus floor, ensuring stability for upper arch dental implants.
The bone grafts will need to heal fully before we can proceed with dental implant surgery and the rest of treatment. We can review the extended and modified treatment timeline for the process when you visit our dental office in Troy, MI.
Have Dental Anxiety? Our sedation options can help you get the care you need
We understand that visiting a dentist can be a major source of fear and anxiety for some patients, causing them to avoid much-needed treatment. Some patients simply need a higher level of comfort care in order to sit through their dental treatments. Our Troy practice offers three forms of sedation dentistry depending on your needs to help you remain relaxed during your dental implant treatment:
Nitrous Oxide
Also known as laughing gas, this form of sedation is inhaled. It works quickly to induce a state of conscious relaxation, and it wears off quickly once it is stopped. Patients are able to drive themselves home after treatment.
Oral Sedation
Your dentist will prescribe you a medication to take before your treatment to help you remain calm and relaxed. You will need someone to drive you to and from your appointment, as it takes several hours for the medication to wear off.
IV Sedation
Dr. Goldin is certified in IV sedation. You will be given medication via an IV. You will remain conscious, but in a deeply relaxed state. As with oral conscious sedation, you will need a responsible adult to drive you home after treatment.

View on GoogleFrequently Asked Questions About Dental Implants
Will my dental implant results look real?
Yes. To craft your restorations, we partner work with great dental labs staffed by exceptional technicians. They take time to craft dentures, crowns, and bridgework that closely resemble natural teeth. When in place, people will think you're just showing off your natural smile.
Does implant placement hurt?
No. Your dentist will thoroughly numb the area before your treatment begins. This will ensure you do not feel any pain. For those that need a higher level of comfort care, our Troy dentists offer sedation options to ensure your dental treatment is as comfortable and as positive as possible.
I've been told I don't qualify due to jawbone deterioration. Can you still help?
Yes. While you may not qualify for traditional dental implants, you may qualify for All-on-4®, All-on-X, or even mini dental implants. Your dentist will examine your mouth to help determine if you are a candidate for this option. If you have severe jawbone deterioration, bone grafting may be needed. We can refer you to a trusted oral surgeon for bone grafting and coordinate care at our Troy dental practice for implant placement afterward.
What is peri-implantitis?
Peri-implantitis is a type of inflammation that affects the gum and bone tissue surrounding an implant. If left untreated, peri-implantitis can cause implant failure and more serious oral health problems. You can prevent peri-implantitis by practicing good oral hygiene and seeing your dentist every six months for regular cleanings and exams.
